TPM Driver update procedure


Windows Vista

1 Before updating to TPM Professional Package V3.0.2.2

  1.1 confirm [Load at Logon] unchecked.

  (1) right click TPM icon in task tray
  (2) click [Personal Secure Drive]
  (3) uncheck [Load at Logon]
  (4) log out‚ and logon again

  1.2 if encrypted folders exists‚ decrypt them

  (1) right click encrypted folder in explorer
  (2) click decrypt‚ and type basic user password as requested
  (3) repeat steps (1)-(2) to all encrypted folders
  (4) repeat step (3) in all accounts on PC

  1.3 decrypt PSD

  (1) reboot PC
  (2) right click TPM icon in task tray
  (3) click [Personal Secure Drive] - [Load]‚ and type basic user password as
        requested
  (4) copy all contents in PSD to unencrypted folder (ex. Documents)
  (5) repeat steps (2)-(4) in all accounts on PC

2 update TPM software (TPM Professional Package)

  (1) logon account with admin authority‚ and unzip downloaded file.
  (2) in unzipped folder‚ start setup.exe in \infineon folder.
        (it is not necessary to uninstall an old version beforehand)
  (3) confirm version 3.0.2.2 displayed in wizard screen.
  (4) press [Next]‚ and proceed installing as indicated
  (5) After installation completed‚ reboot PC as requested.

  * In case of User Account Control effective‚ proceed with confirmation

3 Check TPM software

  (1) After logon‚ right click TPM icon in task tray
  (2) click [Manage Security Platform] (bold)
  (3) confirm version is 3.0.2.2

  * Encryption key and various setting are succeeded and can just use it

Windows XP

1 Before updating to TPM Professional Package V3.0.2.2

  1.1 confirm [Load at Logon] unchecked.

  (1) right click TPM icon in task tray
  (2) click [Personal Secure Drive]
  (3) uncheck [Load at Logon]
  (4) log out‚ and logon again

  1.2 if encrypted folders exists‚ decrypt them

  (1) right click encrypted folder in explorer
  (2) click decrypt‚ and type basic user password as requested
  (3) repeat steps (1)-(2) to all encrypted folders
  (4) repeat step (3) in all accounts on PC

  1.3 decrypt PSD

  (1) reboot PC
  (2) right click TPM icon in task tray
  (3) click [Personal Secure Drive] - [Load]‚ and type basic user password as
        requested
  (4) copy all contents in PSD to unencrypted folder (ex. Documents)
  (5) repeat steps (2)-(4) in all accounts on PC

2 uninstall TPM software (TPM Professional Package)

  (1) Start - Control Panel - Uninstall a program
  (2) select ?Infineon TPM Professional Package?‚ and uninstall it
        (if asked about whether you start a management tool to invalidate TPM
        for the uninstallation middle‚ press ?no? and proceed)

3 Update to Windows Vista SP1

4 install TPM software (TPM Professional Package)

  (1) logon account with admin authority‚ and unzip downloaded file.
  (2) in unzipped folder‚ start setup.exe in \infineon folder.

  (3) confirm version 3.0.2.2 displayed in wizard screen.
  (4) press [Next]‚ and proceed installing as indicated

5 Check TPM software

6 Prevent unexpected User Authentication dialogs

  After you upgrade the operating system from Windows XP to Windows Vista on a
  system that has Infineon TPM Professional Package V3.0.2.2 installed‚
  unexpected User Authentication dialogs are displayed whenever an
  administrative user logs on to the system who was already initialized for
  using EFS with Security Platform.

  To prevent these dialogs from being displayed each time the administrative
  user logs on‚ follow the steps mentioned below:

  (1) Start configuration of user setting from Infineon Security Platform
        Settings Tool and select the feature ?File and folder encryption with
        Encrypting File System (EFS)?.
  (2) On next page ?Encryption Certificate? click on ?Select?.
  (3) Create a new TPM certificate by clicking on ?Create? and select this new
        certificate.
  (4) Configure EFS and finish User Initialization Wizard.
  (5) Start configuration of user setting from Infineon Security Platform
        Settings Tool again and select the feature ?File and folder encryption
        with Encrypting File System (EFS)?.
  (6) On next page ?Encryption Certificate? click on ?Select?.
  (7) Select the original TPM certificate which was used before step 3 again.
  (8) Configure EFS and finish User Initialization Wizard.
