For years the W-series has been Panasonic’s flagship, a 3-pound computer with incredible durability and portability rolled into one beautifully designed package. With the new S-series, Panasonic adds desktop PC-caliber power to that mix.
No small step up, the S8 is running an Intel Core 2 Duo P8800 CPU at 2.66GHz, blazingly fast for a sub-3 pound computer. With up to 4GB RAM (8GB on the select models), 12.1″ widescreen display, and improved Intel GM45 Express Chipset with 4500MHD graphics, the S8 supports intense graphics, along with easier things like streaming videos, spreadsheets, an even excessive multitasking.
In addition to its incredible performance, the S8 has a surreal 16-hour battery life (10 hours under typical usage).
Additional features include the custom-designed DVD superdrive, PC Card Slot, HDMI Out with full HD support for an external monitor, 3 USB ports–with one wisely separated so you can keep that oversized USB broadband data card on one side without interrupting the other ports.
The S-series comes with the same exceptional durability that people have come to know from Panasonic: up to 100kg (220lbs) pressure resistant casing, a 76cm (30 inches) drop rating, and a drip-proof keyboard ensure that any road warrior can rest easy knowing their laptop will shrug off little abuse.
