Panasonic F8 will replace CF-Y7. Positioned as world’s lightest 14.1″ widescreen at 3.7 lb.
Changes:
- WXGA+ screen (1440×900) instead of SXGA+ (1440×1050)
- Centrino 2 Platform with Intel Core 2 Duo Processor SP9300, 2.26 GHz (6MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB)
- 3GB of standard RAM (the expansion slot is occupied), 4GB max.
- 160GB HDD vs. 80GB in Y7
- Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/draft-n
- Handle like in CF-30
The F8 will be available in multiple colors in Japan. In US, however, it is expected to be available in white and black only.
Panasonic T8/W8
Changes:
- Intel Core 2 Duo Processor SU9300, 1.2 GHz (3MB L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB)
- 3GB of standad RAM (the expansion slot is occupied), 4GB max.
- CPU fan vs. fanless design in T5/T7/W7
- 120GB HDD vs. 80GB in 7series
- Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/draft-n
I have to mention, that 32-bit operating system (Windows XP, Vista 32-bit) can address maximum 3GB of RAM that is why uprading to 4GB from standard 3GB configuration is meaningless.
Japanese versions of F8, R8, T8 and W8 are available for pre-order from Direct From Japan store.
